New character, new character, tra la la la la!
Meet Raven Darkholme:

She's cute! She's blond! She has great style!
And sometimes, she looks like this:

What can I say? The island totally needed another blue mutant running around.
Raven (aka Mystique, though she hasn't gotten there, yet) is coming in from just after the introductory scenes of X-Men: First Class. For those not familiar at all with Raven, she's a blue-skinned, red haired, amoral shapeshifter from Marvel, with the ability to take the form of pretty much anyone or anything she likes, including mimicking clothing and vocal patterns and more than doubling her physical size when necessary. For those familiar with comics Raven or movie trilogy Raven, First Class Raven has a somewhat . . . adjusted backstory. She's not a villain (yet), just a confused teenager from the 1950s, and foster sister to Charles Xavier.
That will never not be funny to me.
Wee!Charles took wee!Raven in after finding her mimicking his mother in the kitchen of his ridiculous familycastle mansion in the English countryside Westchester, New York. He was delighted to meet another mutant, and she was homeless and starving, so it was a match made in, well, Hollywood.
She will be really confused by how many folks here seem to know her foster brother.
As I said above, she's not yet a villain (and indeed, wouldn't think of herself as one even after she starts boinking Magneto and goes all "let's turn everyone into mutants or kill them trying"). Right now, she's just doing her best to fit in in a world not yet aware of the presence of mutants, evil or otherwise, and live up to the expectations of her rather overbearing older brother. Not that this will stop her from using her power to be occasionally manipulative or underhanded. She is, above all, a product of her upbringing, filled with an "us versus them" mentality and the paranoia of post-World War II America and the Cold War.
Raven's shapeshifting isn't perfect. She doesn't take on another person's powers or anything, just their surface physicality (when she mimicks Wolverine's claws, for instance, they're most definitely not made of adamantium). Her ruses are detectable by any mind readers, folks with enhanced senses of smell, and of course, any holes there might be in her cover story/mannerisms. That said, they are very good, and convincing to non-mind readers/super-sensers at first glance. She can also shapeshift into animals and inanimate objects, but, well, people are more fun.
I will never have her mimic anyone without a player's OOC permission, and that of anyone involved, directly or indirectly, in a thread. If she does mimic someone in a way that affects your character and I haven't contacted you, please let me know. I'll do my best to make up for the oversight.
Uhhhh, I think that's it? Questions? Comments? Sexy pictures?
Oh, and while I'm here, have some copypasta:
